Price per image
Image models are usually priced per generated image, varying by resolution and quality, or per megapixel.
Why it matters. Compare at the size and quality you will actually use.
How it works
Image models are usually priced per generated image, with the price set by resolution and a quality option, or per megapixel of output. Some image-capable language models bill image output as tokens instead.
The same model can have several prices: standard versus high quality, square versus wide formats, and sometimes extra charges for edits or for input images. This site shows the most typical option first and lists the others.
Estimate with the size and quality you will actually ship, and count regenerations: if users try several times per image they keep, the cost per kept image multiplies.
Worked example
Illustrative: at $0.04 per standard image and $0.08 per high-quality image, 10,000 images a month cost $400 or $800. If users generate 3 options for every image they keep, each kept high-quality image costs $0.24.
Common mistakes
- Planning costs at the smallest size, then shipping at a higher resolution.
- Leaving regenerations and variations out of the cost per kept image.
- Missing separate charges for image inputs or edits.
